Stephen’s new recording of Pictures at an Exhibition, and works by Beethoven and Brahms is now available on Champs Hill Records. The Sunday Times, UK, commented: “This recital shows a pianist of immense intelligence and insight. His meticulous control of colour and clean sound appeals deeply, and he uses a vast palette in Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition while allowing every incident space to make its impact.”
In 2008 the first complete performance of the Landscape Preludes took place at the New Zealand International Arts Festival in Wellington. This was the culmination of a 4-year project involving the commissioning of 12 new pieces for solo piano from 12 different New Zealand composers. The pieces are now available for viewing on YouTube, in association with Radio NZ, Aoraki Polytechnic, New Zealand International Arts Festival and Sounz, the Centre for New Zealand Music. The score of Landscape Preludes is now available to purchase from Sounz.
